Peace Out SMC

The dreaded day has come and gone and I am officially a SMC alum. Coming to SMC was the best choice for me and I hope others have felt the same way. I now have a family of a few thousand that I have met through my experiences at school.
So now I am back in Boston working on finding a job in the area and getting used to life post graduation. The graduation parties and thoughts of alumni weekend are definitely keeping me positive and the sunshine that was missing last year is making a great comeback.
Now that I am fully obsessed with my Windows Movie Maker I decided to do one last video as a recap to my senior year. Enjoy and as always if you have any questions - feel free to comment on the blogs.

Interstate 89 Just Got More Exciting

I have been driven back and forth from school so many times I have lost count. I know every exit and town we pass and I can tell when something new pops up. Somehow something missed my radar.
While on Interstate 89 we pass through South Royalton, VT - and personally I know nothing about this town. I have always thought it was extremely quaint and cute from the highway above - the highway curves around the mountain so it gives a great aerial view of the town.

This past East break when returning to school my friend, Christian, told me some groundbreaking news. This view is the opening scene to the show 'Gilmore Girls'. This probably means nothing to most boys but as an avid fan of afternoon TV on ABC Family this was huge. Although I doubt they filmed the show in VT, the aerial view of the town is in fact in South Royalton. How cool is that?
So if you happen to be driving up 89N in the next couple weeks to visit SMC feel free to check out the right side of your window (while maintaining some eyes on the road) and see the lovely view of Starrs Hallow (or South Royalton). It is between Exit 2 and 3 when the road takes a long curve.
Enjoy the view!

Is It Seriously April?!

I can't believe how fast these weeks are flying by!!
This past week I kept busy with tons of meetings and performances. On Thursday I helped out with the rest of the bloggers at the Accepted Student Blogger chat. It started out a bit slow but definitely picked up over time. It is a great way to chat with current students and get to know a few of your possible new classmates! Our next chat will be Monday April 26 at 7:00-9:00. Be sure to log on and ask any questions.
After the chat our class had a little get together down at What Ale's You on Church Street. It was great to get together with a few of my friends who have been working hard on their senior seminars and to take a break. There were also tons of games on that night so there was no lack of sports to chat about.
On Friday I had a few meetings and tried to get a lot of work done because I knew I would be busy this upcoming week.
Saturday was jammed pack with events. I got up and gave a tour at the Accepted Students Open House. It was kind of bittersweet though since I technically won't even be going to school with a lot of you next fall. Saturday was also full of families visiting for Family weekend. Two of my roommates families visited and it was nice to see them.
Today was yet again busy with meetings and getting work done in the library. Fortunately enough I found the time to write this blog while watching some TV to rest up a bit.
Hopefully I will make it out of this upcoming week alive - Wish me luck!

Mardi Gras 2010

Mardi Gras is a huge celebration here in Burlington. There is a parade up Church Street where everyone comes downtown and gets as many beads as possible.
This year was no exception and was my favorite year so far. My friends and I rode the free CCTA bus downtown with a ton of our classmates and enjoyed all the fun activities. Here is a video of some of the sights from our prime location on the parade route.

Time is Flying!

This past week flew by because I only had one day of classes due to the Presidents Weekend break.
I didn't do too much this past weekend. On Friday I cleaned up the house and then hung out with my roommates before they left for home. Two of my roommates, Kelly and Lauren, are student teachers and their February break is this week so they both have vacation. So it has been Sarah and I holding down the fort here since Saturday.
On Saturday we went to a senior showcase of one of our classmates over in McCarthy Arts Center on campus. It was really cool to see how many instruments he could play and also to hear a new instrument he had learned while studying abroad in Australia last year.
After that we went over to the 300's field to watch the Rumble for the Thunder Dome aka a Ski and Snowboard Jib Fest event. Same deal as last time where SMC students do cool tricks off a mound built over on campus.
Yesterday was devoted to getting work done and watching the Olympics. After an awesome win for the US Men's Hockey Team I finally got to sleep.
This upcoming weekend is Mardi Gras down on Church Street so I should have some good things to blog about then. Until then enjoy the week and don't forget about IHOP's free pancake day tomorrow (Tuesday 2/23).

Another Long Weekend

Each February we receive an extra long weekend for President's Day so we have the Monday and Tuesday off. I decided to stay up here in VT and hang out with friends and have my best friend from home, Alex, come visit.
Although campus wasn't too busy since a lot of students went home we had a good time. On Friday, my roommates and I went and saw Valentine's Day over at the Essex Cinemas. Then we made dinner at the house and hung out on campus.
On Saturday, we all went to the men's hockey game over at Cairn's Arena in South Burlington. It was the senior game and they ended up coming from behind and winning which was great. A lot of the fans were from the opposing team (Castleton) so it was fun to be there and cheer on our school.
After the game, we went down to Church Street and the Vermont Pub & Brewery for dinner. Then returned back to campus to watch the Olympics.
Yesterday Alex left to go back to Boston and I went over to the Magic Hat Brewery in South Burlington. I am not a beer drinker but it was cool to see how beer is made. Here is a picture of my friend Meg, her brother Jamison, and I at the Magic Hat Brewery.

Today I went downtown to window shop with my roommate, Sarah, because it was so nice outside - probably only 35 degrees but still it's much better than being in the teens.
Tomorrow I think I might head to Smuggs for a round 2 of my attempt at skiing so hopefully I will have some good stories from that.
